London's most exciting newcomers Channel Cairo announce three London shows in the upcoming months.
Channel Cairo are two pairs of long-term partners-in-crime, and a Frenchman in London. Formed under Waterloo bridge in 2009, the five-piece's early demo tracks and energetic live sound have been winning over critical ears. With vocal-driven songs, and influences like Radiohead, The Police and The Strokes, the sound is glued together by the band's love of a melodic hook and a spine-tingling harmony, leaning towards alternative pop, often eccentric, sometimes anthemic.
Frontman Josh (vox/piano) and Hamish (guitar) founded their writing partnership as students, gigging across Cardiff under various names before upping the ante with a move to London. Joe (bass) and Jimmy (drums) have shared musical ambitions since 16, and enjoyed a taste of success on stage at Fuji Rock. James went on to tour Europe and the States. Country boys at heart, the 4 are now firmly anchored in the Capital, with French lead guitarist Sylvain completing the line up. A combination of fate and gumtree brought the band together in Summer 2009, and now, a year on, their upcoming headline shows are well worth checking out...
