On Tues 3rd Aug successful promotions company I (Heart) ventured up North to Proud Camden to showcase new projects from The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things Gary Powell and Milburns Joe Carnall. Guests were also treated to lovely indie-electro beats from Kites and most likely their first encounter with Glam Jazz courtesy of Norwegian rocker Eric Ness and his 7-piece band.
Gary Powell and his new band The Invasion Of kick started the night with aggressive, high-energy rock. Powell has already earned enviable success with The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things and fans were eager to catch his new project. He obviously had a great deal of support from his fans who packed the room right from the start of the night and his energy on stage left no question why he has sustained such success: http://www.myspace.com/theinvasionof
Next up was Norwegian rocker Eric Ness. Eric Ness puts on a spectacular performance difficult to describe! Picture two dancing back-up singers, double-bass, a mandolin and flute producing one of the most eclectic sounds on the live scene at the moment. Eric and his 7-piece band had incredible energy and they were so engaging with the audience, fans definitely got their money worth because this band entertained the hell out of the crowd. The sound and the lyrics were so unique, a combination of big band, jazz, acoustic and classic rock n' roll. The night had a really strange theme of incredibly talented drummers! First Gary Powell and then Kites had the most insane female drummer ever, she was really impressive to watch.
