What is the last record you listened to where you did not know what the hell was going on? One where so many strange sounds were presented upon you where you knew their source but at the same time, they all sounded so distant and far. One that sounded threatening in places but yet, so gentle and calm in others. Excepter are a band that do that with their latest album 'Presidence' This is the eighth album to come out from the band so they can't be doing that bad for themselves.

The first six tracks are titled Teleportation and they are continuous songs played live. The band might aswell have not had it any other way because the six songs sound like a psychedelic journey through your mind. The haunting voices of the first seconds of the six tracks will sound like ghosts that are approaching you as if they are trying to drag you into the song. Moving on, the industrial sounds are a reminder of the dark sound of Portishead whereas further on, you will hear what sounds like some sort of crazy ambient rave. The album also has its calm moments in the form of 'Leng.' Whether its the buzzing sound or the sound of pipes in the background, the nice relaxing sound is a good contrast to the rest of the record.

The record is definately a dark and interesting one. There are times you're not quite sure what is being played to you but this drags you in even more. The dirty industrial and trip hop like sound creates an atmosphere that is both cosmic and tense. Presidence sounds dangerous but aren't most things better when lived on the edge?

8/10
