Last week I had the privilege of going along to the launch night of the Big Chill Bar in Bristol. It’s in a great location, right in the heart of the centre where Native used to be. The exterior looks inviting, even if the three massive bouncers don’t!
In we go and are greeted with a cool laid back atmosphere, funky décor and soulful vibes to ease us into the night. There’s a cracking selection of drinks available and all for reasonable prices too. Unfortunately the food I sampled on the night wasn’t anything that will be on the menus normally so I can’t give comment there.
For night one I’d say they’re just about there with the interior and décor, although maybe a lack of comfy decent seating could be an issue. However, when the music is so good that everyone’s up dancing I guess it doesn’t matter a great deal. Craig Charles of 6music fame was there till the early hours entertaining the crowd with his heady mix of blues, funk, soul, boogaloo and disco which everyone absolutely loved.
So if you’re looking for somewhere new, fresh and vibrant to go and hang out in in Bristol then definitely head on over. The famous DJ Derek is playing this Saturday night (17/10) and also one to pop in your diaries is the monstrous Halloween spectacular on Saturday 31st October, with WARP productions - I Spit on Your Rave and local boys Monsterpiece.
Enjoy Brissel peeps, and as always, post some comments and give your feedback :-)
