As this is my first ever blog on GigJunkie, I have decided to introduce myself by letting you all know what it is that I am looking forward to musically this September. If all goes to plan, this will give you an insight about me as the over-excited teenager I am and more importantly, give a few hints about what I will be blogging about in the near future.
1.3OH!3 at Islington Academy [03/09]
3OH!3 are a band that I came across by accident whilst playing Tap Tap Revenge on my iPod. Their music is a very unique brand of crunk rap with the occasional emo undertone which recently graced the UK charts at Number 21 with their single 'Don't Trust Me' from their second album 'Want'. I was lucky enough to attend the Vans Warped Tour this year, where 3OH!3 took the mainstage by storm, drawing one of the largest, most enthusiastic crowds of the day. I am immensely looking forward to seeing their reception in the UK as well as seeing them at a much, much smaller venue.
2.The Candle Thieves 'The Sunshine EP' [10/09]
The Candle Thieves are listed on a website I found a few days ago called MusicGlue – a website designed for artists and fans alike. In exchange for your email address for each bands mailing list, you receive a number of free, legal downloads which allow you a taster of the band's sound. I fell in love with The Candle Thieves' glockenspiel, piano and emotional vocal-y goodness after listening to 'Pull Back The Moon' and followed them to their MySpace, where I was pleased to discover they have an EP coming out, which is available for pre-order from Alcopop.
3.The Used at Electric Ballroom [23/09]
This is one of those bands that I've followed for years through changes and experiments in sound as well as band line-up. With the upcoming release of their fifth studio album 'Artwork' [31/08] I am very excited to say that I am seeing The Used again for the fourth time, and in another great venue; The Electric Ballroom in Camden. Front-man Bert McCracken's cocky attitude and the bands talent have never failed to entertain an audience, so I'm looking forward to another great show.
So, that is a small list of musical nuggets that I'm looking forward to this September, please share yours by commenting!
