Bio
The Kooks are an indie band which formed in Brighton, England, United Kingdom in 2004. The band currently consists of Luke Pritchard (vocals, guitar), Hugh Harris (guitar), Peter Denton (bass) and Paul Garred (drums). They have released two studio albums; their 2006 debut Inside in/Inside Out peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and their 2008 follow up Konk reached number one.
The Kooks formed at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, where they were all students. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Luke Pritchard, got bassist Max Rafferty involved in a college project, which formed the base of the band. After getting lead guitarist Hugh Harris and drummer Paul Garred involved, they took their name from the song Kooks on the 1971 David Bowie album Hunky Dory. When they tried to trademark the name, they found that in the late/mid 1990s a Swedish band by the same name released an album in Sweden called Too Much Is Not Enough.
The Kooks released a debut EP and played gigs around Brighton, where they were based at the time. They were signed to Virgin Records.

I bought the tickets mainly to see Ladyhawke but i actually really enjoyed The Kooks too.
We got there about an hour early only to queue for ages after the doors were meant to open, in the rain. Ladyhawke came on and did their sound check while everyone was queuing and performed the whole of 'Dusk 'Til Dawn' which was really good.
Everyone finally got in and had to wait for quite a while but Ladyhawke was really good. After seeing them at radio 1's big weekend on tv i wasn't sure what to expect but despite the rain it was amazing. The main songs were all really good and got the crowd going, though the crowd were a bit boring through some of her less known songs.
Then The Kooks came on and the atmosphere was really good. The rain stopped and the crowd was good. I didn't know many of their songs but it was still good to watch. They sounded good live and were also drunk which was quite amusing i guess.
They all went off and then the singer came on and did a solo song before all of them coming back on for a few songs, overall it was really good.
The venue was pretty good too :) though not so good in the rain.
